According to Bloomberg, General Motors, who is has just crossed the hurdle before filing for bankruptcy earlier, says the demand for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro sports car is exceeding supply.
GM has filled about half the 25,000 Camaro orders taken. Dealers, reeling from GM’s 42 percent U.S. sales decline in the first five months of the year, report that the the new Camaro is selling within days of them becoming available and sell for around $500 more than the sticker price.
The 2010 Camaro first began production in March and it sold 5,463 in May. The Camaro is in direct competition with Ford's Mustang and Chrysler's Dodge Challenger. The new Transformers sequel has also benefitted the sales of the new Camaro, starring as Bumblebee (“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”) which recently opened in theaters yesterday.
Things are clearly looking good for GM.
